So when a datacentre is viewed as a service does that leave anything left to manage?According to a paper just published entitled Virtual Machine Power Metering and Provisioning by Aman Kansal, Feng, Zhao, Jie Liu, Microsoft Research, Nupur Kothari, University of Southern California and Arka Bhattacharya, IIT Kharagpur they have now determined a way to measure teh energy consumption of software and machines operating inn the virtual world. In the abstract to the article the authors go on to explain:
