New Design Awards - time to design

Time to design - new talent award is a design award aimed at young design talents in the beginning of their career. The price includes three months residency at the Danish Art Workshops, 50.000 DKK sponsored by TA, the Danish Association of Wood and Furniture Industries to cover material costs, individual career coaching by OeO and two weeks exhibition at the Normann Copenhagen Flagship Store.


The deadline for submission is june 16, 2010. The winner will be announced by the end of August at a press conference. The residency at the Danish Art Workshops will run from September to November, and the exhibition at Norman Copenhagen is on view from November 25 to December 9, 2010.

The guest jury members in 2010 are Odoardo Fioravanti, Italian designer; GamFratesi, Italian/Danish design duo and Maria Sparre-Petersen, Danish designer.
Further jury members are representatives from the partners and sponsors: Frederik Hardvendel, director of the Danish Art Workshops; Poul Madsen, CEO and founder of Normann Copenhagen; Jesper Pagh, designer and co-founder of Link UP; Hans Jørgen Bruno Hansen, director at Bruno Hansen Snedkerier and chairman in the TA design commitee and Thomas Lykke, design director at OeO.
About winning the award
Winner in 2008 was the Danish architect Anne Romme with her sculptural screen and room divider, Saturated Porosity - freestanding screen. Since the exhibition in DK, the screen has been showcased in New York at Brooklyn Designs.
Anne Romme about winning the award: “It has been a huge experience and great knowledge for me to receive this award. To be in an environment where you are surrounded by persons who are enthusiastic and at the same time receiving advice and guidance from qualified consultants - this has been indispensable.”

In 2009 the winners were Lanzavecchia + Wai - a design duo hailing from Italy and Singapore respectively. Their winning project was a series of furniture called Spaziale Series - New expressions of skin and structure.
Lanzavecchia + Wai about winning the award: “As a young design duo embarking on our journey together, there is no other better way to establish our studio than being supported by such expertise, creative culture and communication platform. We are grateful to be given this freedom for creation.”
Spaziale Series can be seen at this years Salone Internazio-nale del Mobile, Milano from April 14 to April 19.

Unique platform for growing talents
Time to design - new talent award was established in 2008 as a new and untraditional co-operation between the Danish Art Workshops, Normann Copenhagen and Link UP - network for architects and designers in Denmark.
The purpose is to create a unique platform for design talents within the design business through a co-operation between the private and the public sector - a platform that contributes to ones further professional career.
