RFP Announces Categories for New Regional Awards Scheme

RFP Magazine today announced categories for a new regional awards scheme for the Outstanding Individuals in Industry Awards that has been running on an Asia -wide basis for the past four years. The categories have been altered to better reflect the calibre of nominees coming in from the various locations and include two new awards. The first is Commercial Developer of the Year, for landlords and developers that have given occupiers some thing special, or created landmark developments. The other will please those involved in the technical side of things. the Excellence in Engineering award is for those that work on complex systems such as datacentres, trading floors or other facilities. The nomination deadline for New Regional Awards is on 8th of September, 2011.

Regional awards will be held in three areas: India, China and South East Asia and awards will be presented at gala dinners held in Major cities in those regions in conjunction with the Asia Office Space Congress series which is held in Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Mumbai and Beijing. The first will be in Mumbai directly following the Asia Office Space Congress on 22 September this year.

Real Estate Strategy
Whether you are a bank, business park or burger joint – determining real estate needs over time and a broad geographical area is like solving the Rubix Cube. This award is for executives are making smarter choices, using their real estate competency to further business goals and set new standards in the industry. This is the category for buyers or sellers who took a risk, entered markets others passed over, or exhibited creativity and integrity in their real estate choices.

Real Estate Transactions
It all starts with the decision to buy, lease or build but unless you are sitting on a vacant lot some deal has to be struck. This award is not for those who leased at the lowest rent or took the most space, instead it is for the individual who made the smartest choice and negotiated the best win-win arrangement.

Industry Champion
Time to give the people who get out there some recognition. People who make it into the press and who lobby governments for change and recognition deserved to be acknowledged themselves. This category is for you if are you are opening dialogue improving the profile or reputation of the industry you represent. No matter how you are connected to the building and real estate industries, we believe that if you're making an effort you're making a difference.

Excellence in FM
Your job title might not even be 'Facility Manager' but you know what you do to keep those buildings running. Often forgotten, or only ever called when something goes wrong, now is your time to shine. Whether you are managing a shopping centre in Chengdu or the Taj Mahal we want to hear from the people who have done their industry proud.

Excellence in Engineering
We're getting technical, but don't you know it, buildings are getting technical. If it was required some engineering leaps and you were the person who made it happen we want to congratulate you. From the new facade that glitters as it draws in the punters through to the systems integration of an airport – this is an award for some one who sweated over a problem and came up with a solution that was beautiful, ingenious or both.

Commercial Interior Designer of the Year
Good workplace design is about more than the colour of the carpet. This award celebrates people involved in corporate fit out projects that were large-scale, complex, unique or just plain old successful.

Environmental Performance
'Green' is the buzz word of our times, but are the people really making a difference getting acknowledged for it? Here they can be. Whether it is energy saving, waste disposal or an overall green strategy we are looking for commitment, results and someone who is willing to be the example for others to emulate.

Corporate RE or FM Leader
Here at RFP we come across people who know that it is not just about the bottom line all the time. Problem is that their companies often don't recognize their amazing contributions to the running of the business. We are going to do that for them because this is the category for people managing commercial facilities who have found a way to add top-line value to the business, the brand or the community.

PM of the Year
On time, on budget and to the requisite quality – those are the basics that are hard to meet on any project. Imagine then the person who goes one better, and delivers despite the obstacles. This is the award for all those people who make the rest of us stand back in awe. Whether working on projects big or small, they solve the problems, juggle the budgets and only compromise when it's the right thing to do.

Commercial Developer/Landlord of the year
Developing high-quality commercial real estate is no easy task. From regulatory and governmental issues through to correct positioning to get the right sort of tenants at the right sort of price takes a leader with vision. This award is for representatives from commercial developers who have created an offering that stands out and that its occupiers adore.
