Alice Chow, Director, Arup

For: Managing HSBC's HK$4 bil Tier IV datacentre in Tsuen Kwan O, Hong Kong

Alice Chow was responsible for managing multidisciplinary consultancy services in one of the regions most technically demanding projects in 2007. The 29,100 sqm facility house over 700 supporting staff and some of the most advanced IT technologies in use today. The final product goes beyond fitness-for-use, and is already respected as the first datacentre in Hong Kong to meet the industry's most stringent reliability and security requirements.

Chow is a member and fellow of numerous associations including the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers and Association for Project Management. She is also a member of the Administration Appeals Board and the Appeal Board Panel (Town Planning). Chow is also heavily committed to charitable work as a member of residential care homes (Elderly Persons) appeal board and a member of the board of directors of Medecines Sans Frontieres Hong Kong.

Judging panel said: "Her proactive attitude towards communication and teamwork enabled the mitigation and avoidance of risks in the project roll-out."

Landmark Project Achievement
Paul James, Country Director for Macau, at inProjects Ltd

For: His role in Asia 's most high profile project of 2007

Working with lead contractor Hsin Chong and responsible for interior fit-out and construction project management, Paul James was one of the key project drivers of works on the massive Venetian Casino in Macau . Involved from groundbreaking to completion of Phase 1, Paul strategising, and team motivation to ensure that this landmark project was delivered successfully.

Paul James is fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building, a practicing member of the Academy of Experts and a member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He has over 26 years of industry experience in leading project delivery teams including on multi-billion dollar civil and building projects.

Judging panel said: "A landmark project of this stature with a ambitious time frame required an outstanding contribution."

Transformational Project
- Kristina Zanic, Transformation Managing Director, dwp, Bangkok

For: Stand-out transformational projects whose results came to fruition in 2007

Kristina Zanic has been at the centre of a number of transformations over the past few years, including prominent projects for Hewlett-Packard, Nestle, and Krungthai AXA Life Insurance in Thailand . All the above an required an intensive design to revolutionise the clients' approach to their workplace while retailing corporate values, connecting people and reflecting the dynamic and progressive nature of Thailand's business environment.

Zanic is a frequent speaker at various corporate events on workplace design. She is also the founder and executive director of dwp group, and the principle designer undertaking all aspects of interior design, facility planning, project management for major clients in Australia , Bangkok , Beijing , London , Singapore , and Vietnam.

Judging panel said: "Used design to encourage real and lasting workplace transformation for numerous projects."

Paul Scroggie, Director - Corporate Consultancy , Knight Frank Hong Kong

For: Changing the approach to the workplace of HSBC and its employees in Hong Kong

Paul Scroggie has been responsible for interacting with over 3,000 HSBC employees in transforming over 320,000 sqf of office space since 2002. This has included office space in their Headquarters building, 1 Queens Road Central, as well as other locations in Hong Kong . Paul was instrumental in facilitating the process of change management through a sophisticated procedure of staff and management engagement resulting in increase productivity and workplace satisfaction.

Judging panel said: "Showed true commitment to listening and communicating with all levels of the organisation, something key to facilitating change in the workplace."
